Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director / Associate Director in Ground Engineering to lead geotechnical projects across the UK from Newcastle upon Tyne. You will oversee data review, design calculations and client-facing activities to deliver complex infrastructure schemes.

The role requires chartered status, a civil engineering degree (2:1) and strong knowledge of UK ground conditions, codes, and best practices. You will mentor staff, win work and build relationships with clients and partners.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree with 2:1 or higher.
• MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics or Geotechnical Engineering is advantageous.
• Chartered status.
• Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
• Familiarity with current geotechnical design codes and standards.
• Collaborate in project delivery, work winning and client satisfaction.
• Knowledge of ground interpretation and parametric assessment methods.
• Develop strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Excellent networking to promote the AECOM brand.

Responsibilities

• Oversee input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses and design calculations.
• Provide consultative advice to partners during all project stages.
• Manage geotechnical projects, including scheduling, coordination and budget.
• Lead and support the Ground Engineering team to deliver projects to time and quality.
• Maintain industry presence and build a pipeline of opportunities with clients.
• Collaborate with Ground Engineering, Tunnelling, Transport, Water, Energy and Buildings teams.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.
