AECOM invites applications for a Technical Director / Associate Director in Ground Engineering, based in the UK with hybrid work options. Lead geotechnical data reviews, provide advisory support across project life cycles, and drive multi-disciplinary delivery for major projects.

You will mentor junior staff, maintain client relationships, and contribute to business growth while delivering high-quality outcomes for a wide range of sectors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology with 2:1 classification or higher.
• MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Eng or Engineering Geology is advantageous.
• Chartered status.
• Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
• Understanding of current design codes, standards and best practices in geotechnical design; open to new methods.
• Ability to collaborate closely in project delivery, work winning and maintaining client satisfaction.
• Knowledge of ground conditions interpretation/parametric assessment and correlation methods.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Effective networking to promote the AECOM brand as a consulting partner.
• Insightful, able to recognise opportunities and make informed decisions.
• Passion for developing future engineers and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses and design calculations.
• Providing consultative advice to external partners during all project stages from site selection to design and construction.
• Managing geotechnical projects, planning schedules and coordinating to meet objectives, programme and budget.
• Providing leadership and support to the Ground Engineering team for timely, quality project delivery.
• Maintaining strong industry presence and relationships to sustain a pipeline of opportunities.
• Collaborating with Ground Engineering and Tunnelling teams, and other groups on project works and tenders.
• Mentoring and developing junior team members with guidance and support.
