Job summary

AECOM is seeking a motivated Graduate Road Drainage Engineer to develop technical skills in drainage and hydraulic engineering for roads and transport infrastructure in the UK. You will work on drainage design, hydraulic calculations, flood risk assessment and SuDS development.

Qualifications

• BEng in Civil Engineering or related discipline with 2:1 or above.
• An MEng in Civil Engineering or related discipline is advantageous.
• A relevant Master’s degree in Water Engineering, Hydraulics or related discipline is advantageous.
• Genuine interest in drainage, hydraulics and water management for road infrastructure.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities with ability to interpret technical data.
• Interest in drainage design, hydraulic modelling and engineering software.
• Proficient with Word/Excel and capable report writing.
• Strong written and verbal communication and able to work with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support drainage design and assessment for roads and transport infrastructure.
• Perform drainage and hydraulic calculations and technical assessments.
• Assist with drainage strategies and surface water management solutions.
• Support hydraulic modelling and analysis of drainage networks and watercourses.
• Assist with design of SuDS and other water management solutions.
• Support flood risk assessments and mitigation measures.
• Contribute to design and assessment of culverts, outfalls and attenuation systems.
• Collect, analyse and interpret site, rainfall, drainage and hydraulic data.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to understand existing infrastructure.
