Job summary

AECOM is seeking a talented Graduate Road Drainage Engineer to join our Road Drainage team in the UK. The role focuses on drainage design and hydraulic engineering for roads and transport infrastructure, developing safe and sustainable surface water solutions.

You’ll work with experienced engineers, perform hydraulic calculations, contribute to drainage strategies and reports, and gain exposure across the project lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design in a collaborative, hybrid

Qualifications

• BEng in Civil Engineering with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or above.
• An MEng in Civil Engineering would be advantageous.
• A Master’s degree in Water Engineering, Hydraulics, Environmental Engineering or related discipline would be advantageous.
• Genuine interest in drainage, hydraulics, water management and road/transport infrastructure design.
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in drainage design and engineering software.
• Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with stakeholders.
• Ability to structure and prioritise work; work collaboratively and independently.
• Enthusiastic, technically minded with motivation and drive.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Support drainage design and assessment for roads and transport infrastructure.
• Perform drainage and hydraulic calculations and technical assessments.
• Assist with drainage strategies and surface water management solutions.
• Support hydraulic modelling and analysis of drainage networks and watercourses.
• Assist with SuDS design and other water-management solutions.
• Assist with flood risk assessments and mitigation measures.
• Assist with culverts, outfalls and attenuation systems design and assessment.
• Collect and analyse site, survey, rainfall and hydraulic data.
• Participate in site visits and project meetings.
