Job summary

AECOM is recruiting a Graduate Road Drainage Engineer in the UK to develop expertise in drainage and hydraulic design for road and transport projects. You will work with senior engineers on safe, resilient drainage solutions and gain exposure from feasibility through to detailed design.

Qualifications

• BEng or equivalent with 2:1 or above.
• An MEng would be advantageous.
• Master’s in Water Engineering or hydraulics would be advantageous.
• Genuine interest in drainage and road transport infrastructure.
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in drainage design and engineering software.
• Good report-writing skills and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support design and assessment of drainage systems for roads and transport infrastructure.
• Undertake drainage and hydraulic calculations and technical assessments.
• Assist with drainage strategies and surface water management solutions.
• Support hydraulic modelling and analysis of drainage networks.
• Assist with SuDS design and other water management solutions.
• Support flood risk assessments and mitigation measures.
• Assist with culverts, outfalls and attenuation structures.
• Collect, analyse and interpret site, rainfall and hydraulic data.
• Participate in site visits and inspections.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications and drawings.
• Use CAD and digital engineering software as required.
