Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Graduate Road Drainage Engineer to join our Road Drainage team in the UK. This role provides an exciting start to a career in drainage and hydraulic engineering, focusing on design and assessment of drainage systems for roads and transport infrastructure.

You’ll work with experienced engineers, develop skills in drainage design, hydraulic calculations, flood risk assessment and SuDS, while gaining exposure to multiple project stages from feasibility to implementation.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil/related discipline with 2:1 or above (BEng preferred).
• An MEng or Master’s in water engineering is advantageous.
• Interest in drainage, hydraulics and road infrastructure design.
• Strong analytical, numerical and report-writing abilities.
• Proficiency with CAD and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and assessment of road drainage systems and networks.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and basic modelling tasks.
• Support development of drainage strategies and SuDS concepts.
• Contribute to flood risk assessments and drainage reports.
• Collect and interpret site data; participate in site visits and meetings.
• Collaborate with engineers and environmental specialists on project deliverables.
