Red King Resourcing is partnering with a well established construction client in Oxford to recruit a Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyor. The role offers hands-on experience across refurbishment and fit-out projects, with a clear path to develop a commercial career within a supportive team.

You will assist with budgets, cost plans, tendering, valuations, and final accounts, working closely with site teams to monitor progress and commercial performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Management.
• Strong numeracy and analytics are essential.
• Willingness to work towards a professional qualification (e.g., RICS).

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans.
• Support the procurement and subcontractor tendering process.
• Review subcontractor quotations and prepare comparisons.

My well established construction client specialising in refurbishment and fit-out projects, is actively looking to appoint a Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Oxford.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their commercial career within a supportive construction environment, gaining hands-on experience across a range of refurbishment projects.

The Role

Working alongside experienced commercial and project management professionals, you will support the financial and commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans
• Supporting the procurement and subcontractor tendering process
• Reviewing subcontractor quotations and preparing comparisons
• Assisting with valuations, variations and change control
• Monitoring project costs and maintaining accurate commercial records
• Supporting the preparation of payment applications and final accounts
• Assisting with subcontractor and client meetings
• Working closely with site and project teams to understand project progress and commercial performance
• Developing your knowledge of contracts, procurement and construction cost management

You may be:

• A Graduate Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career
• An Assistant Quantity Surveyor with some construction experience
• A recent graduate with a relevant degree such as Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management
• Working towards, or interested in pursuing, a professional qualification such as RICS

Experience within refurbishment, fit-out or general building construction would be advantageous, although a strong attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
