Job summary

Cityscape Recruitment LTD. is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility on a range of exciting projects in Oxfordshire. The role offers exposure to residential, social housing, commercial, heritage and low‑carbon schemes from pre-construction through to final account.

The successful candidate will have proven UK construction experience, main contractor background and strong JCT skills, with expertise in procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor within UK construction.
• Main contractor experience is preferred.
• Strong JCT experience.
• Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to completion.
• Strong understanding of procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a relevant construction discipline.
• MRICS or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
• Strong IT and Excel skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Take full commercial responsibility for allocated projects.
• Manage project budgets, costs and forecasts.
• Lead procurement and subcontractor negotiations.
• Manage subcontractor accounts and payments.
• Prepare and agree valuations.
• Manage variations, claims and change control.
• Produce monthly cost reports and CVRs.
• Monitor project performance against budget.
• Manage cash flow and commercial reporting.
• Lead final accounts and commercial close-out.
• Support pre-construction, tendering and pricing activities.
• Work closely with the operational and design teams.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Mentor and support junior commercial team members.

About the Role

Our client is a well-established main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering quality construction projects across Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.

Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility across a range of exciting projects.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across residential, social housing, commercial, heritage and low-carbon construction schemes, taking projects from pre-construction through to final account.
