Job summary

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is seeking an ambitious engineer to join the Mechanical Design Group. You will undertake design projects from concept through to testing and integration on the race car, applying a creative and analytical approach while collaborating with senior engineers and manufacturing teams.

The role involves developing skills under mentorship, delivering high-precision components, and contributing to cross-functional design decisions in a fast-paced Formula One environment.

Qualifications

• Strong degree 2:1 in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport Eng or similar STEM subject.
• Knowledge of CATIA V5/3DX is an advantage but not essential.
• Interest in mechanical and composite design, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail while meeting tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Supporting senior group members with large mechanical/composite design projects.
• Assisting with the design and development of innovative components and solutions, including the use of modern digital and AI-assisted design tools where appropriate.
• Generating 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings with manufacturing information such as tooling, build instructions, inspection process and test methodology.
• Close collaboration with internal and external manufacturing departments to ensure fully integrated designs that achieve optimal car performance.
• Ownership of your components from design, through testing, to implementation on the race car.
