Job summary

Mott MacDonald seeks a Graduate Materials Engineer to join our Materials and Corrosion team, helping extend infrastructure life and support low-carbon transitions. You will learn from experienced engineers on projects spanning bridges, water treatment, hydropower and major transport infrastructure.

You will gain hands-on experience across buildings, infrastructure, water, energy, road and rail sectors, with mentoring, training, and a clear development path through our Accelerating your Future

Qualifications

• Less than 12 months' relevant experience (excluding placements).
• Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering obtained no earlier than 2025.
• Eligibility to achieve UK security clearance (UK national or five years in the UK).

Responsibilities

• Assist with durability assessments to identify deterioration mechanisms.
• Support the evaluation, specification, and repair of construction materials used in buildings and civil engineering structures.
• Participate in site inspections to assess the condition, performance, and remaining service life of assets.
• Assist with the analysis of material deterioration, including corrosion, concrete degradation, weathering, and ageing.
• Support the development of maintenance, protection, and repair strategies to improve asset performance.
• Contribute to research and innovation initiatives, including evaluating new materials and sustainable solutions.
• Analyse technical data and help prepare reports, presentations and recommendations for project teams and clients.
• Work closely with Materials, Structural, Civil Engineers and asset management specialists to deliver integrated solutions.
