Job summary

Mott MacDonald in Manchester is offering a Graduate Materials Engineer position within our Materials and Corrosion team. You’ll learn on real projects, supported by experienced engineers, to extend infrastructure life and improve resilience.

You will gain hands-on experience across buildings, infrastructure, water, energy, road and rail, with mentoring and a three-year development program. Eligibility requires a relevant degree and limited prior experience.

Qualifications

• Less than 12 months of relevant experience (excluding placements).
• Degree in Materials Engineering or expected to achieve one in 2025.

Responsibilities

• Assist with durability assessments to identify deterioration mechanisms.
• Support evaluation and repair of construction materials in buildings and civil structures.
• Participate in site inspections to assess asset condition and remaining life.
• Analyze material deterioration including corrosion and concrete degradation.
• Contribute to maintenance and repair strategies to reduce whole-life costs.
• Support research and innovation on new materials and sustainable solutions.
• Analyze technical data and prepare reports for project teams and clients.
• Work with Materials, Structural, Civil engineers and asset specialists.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and client interactions.
• Contribute to sustainability goals and carbon reduction initiatives.
