Job summary
The American Society of Civil Engineers in Nottingham is seeking a Graduate Materials Engineer to start a specialist career in corrosion engineering with full training and exposure to major UK infrastructure projects.
You will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience in corrosion science, electrochemistry, materials testing and cathodic protection on structures from bridges to ports, with hybrid working and long-term progression toward a qualified corrosion engineer.
Qualifications
- Degree in Materials Engineering or another STEM discipline.
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
Responsibilities
- Learn the mechanisms behind reinforced concrete deterioration and corrosion.
- Analyse laboratory and site investigation results.
- Interpret half-cell potential surveys, chloride profiles and carbonation testing.
- Assist with technical specifications and corrosion protection strategies.
- Attend UK sites to inspect reinforced concrete structures.
- Work alongside survey teams, engineers and technical partners.
