Job summary

A friendly and successful independent school on the Surrey/Croydon border is seeking a Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join its supportive team as soon as possible. You will work closely with teachers and the school’s SEND team to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and participate confidently in school life.

Qualifications

• First-Class or 2:1 degree from a Russell Group or leading university.
• Ideally studied psychology, education, neuroscience or a related subject.
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Interest in future training as an educational or clinical psychologist.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Providing individual and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Supporting pupils with SEND inside and outside the classroom.
• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and emotional resilience.
• Delivering targeted academic and pastoral interventions.
• Supporting pupils’ communication, organisation and social skills.
• Adapting resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Monitoring pupils’ progress and sharing observations with teachers and SEND professionals.
• Helping teachers maintain a calm, positive and purposeful classroom environment.
• Building relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Supporting the school’s wider academic and enrichment activities.
