Mott MacDonald seeks a Graduate Building Physicist to join our Engineering Sciences team in the UK. You’ll work with experienced specialists to shape buildings, cities, and neighbourhoods that are comfortable, energy‑efficient and designed with people and the planet in mind.

From day one, you’ll receive structured learning, mentoring, and hands‑on project experience, gaining exposure to digital tools and analytical techniques to improve building performance and environmental outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Building Physics or a related field and < 12 months' experience.
• Demonstrates curiosity, collaboration, and a desire to learn through structured programmes.
• Shows ability to communicate clearly with clients and colleagues and to work analytically.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the thermal modelling of buildings across scales to evaluate comfort, energy, and carbon impacts.
• Helping design teams identify practical solutions to improve building performance and wellbeing.
• Assisting with qualitative building performance assessments during early design stages.
• Developing parametric studies for low-carbon and net-zero design at building and campus scales.
• Supporting CFD modelling to understand airflow around buildings and urban environments.
• Contributing to studies on urban heat island effects and climate adaptation.
• Collaborating with architects, engineers, planners, and sustainability consultants.
