Job summary

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team at Silverstone is offering an opportunity for a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer within a skilled design engineering group. You will contribute to developing the team’s 60% wind tunnel model and testing facility, designing mechanical and electromechanical systems for the model and related instrumentation.

You will work on high quality mechanical parts, review designs, and help ensure performance and reliability while supporting project scopes set by senior

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering/Design/Motorsport or similar.
• Graduation within the past 12 months or scheduled within 12 months.
• Some experience with mechanical design using 3D CAD (3DExperience/CATIA).
• Knowledge of complex mechanical engineering is advantageous.
• Ability to apply structural validation (FEA).
• Knowledge of materials/manufacturing incl. composites & digital manufacture.
• Awareness of GD&T and its application.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and deliver with minimal errors.
• IT literacy: MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
• Open and inclusive team player.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of high quality designed mechanical parts for the wind tunnel model.
• Work on design projects for mechanical systems on the wind tunnel model, test facility, and aero instrumentation.
• Review designs and improve performance and reliability of engineering systems.
• Meet project scope set by senior team members to complete mechanical design solutions.
• Contribute new ideas in design methodology, processes and procedures.
• Investigate and research new technologies and materials for development of mechanical systems.

In this role, you will work within a group of skilled design engineers helping develop the team’s 60% wind tunnel model and testing facility, designing and developing mechanical and electromechanical systems for the model.

Requirements

What do we need from you?

• A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering/Design/Motorsport) or similar
• Completed your degree within the past 12 months, or you are scheduled to complete it within the next 12 months
• Some experience of mechanical design using 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA)
• Some knowledge and understanding of complex mechanical engineering is advantageous
• Ability to apply structural engineering techniques for part validation (FEA)
• Some knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques including composite manufacture and advanced digital manufacture
• An awareness of GD&T and its application
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
• Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors
• Communicate effectively with colleagues
• Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email
• Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture
