Job summary

Cadillac Formula 1 Team is seeking a Model Design Engineer at our Silverstone facility to own end-to-end design of wind tunnel parts. You will work with aerodynamicists and surface engineers, delivering high-quality CAD models, validating through FEA, and refining design workflows to improve test efficiency.

Applicants should hold an engineering degree, be proficient in 3DExperience or CATIA, and demonstrate strong GD&T and materials knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Design, Motorsport, or a related discipline (or equivalent).
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (3DExperience/CATIA) with FEA experience for structural validation.
  • Understanding of parametric modeling, part robustness, and model layout principles.
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, including composites and digital manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to first-time-right delivery.
  • Willing to travel and work flexible hours during race season.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, well-validated parts for wind tunnel testing in line with aerodynamic targets.
  • Support complete design projects, including CAD creation, project management, quality-checking, and documentation.
  • Continuously improve functionality, quality, and robustness of model parts to optimize wind tunnel test efficiency.
  • Drive development and implementation of improved design workflows and standards.
  • Collaborate with Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to ensure alignment with technical specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to standard design practices and help refine them as needed.

Requirements
What do you need to bring to the team?
  • Degree in Engineering, Design, Motorsport, or a related discipline or equivalent
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA) and experience in using FEA for structural validation of parts
  • Strong understanding of parametric modeling, part robustness, and model layout principles
  • Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, including composites and advanced digital manufacturing techniques
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and its application and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

  • Willing to travel and work flexible hours during race season
