About the Role We are looking for a friendly, approachable and organised Medical Receptionist / Administrator to join our team at Sheppey Healthy Living Centre. The post is for 15 hours per week. Our reception team plays a vital role in supporting patients and ensuring the smooth running of our busy GP practice. As a receptionist, you will often be the first point of contact for patients, whether face‑to‑face, over the telephone or through electronic communications. This is a varied role that combines patient‑facing reception duties with general administrative tasks. You will need to be able to work in a busy environment, communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, and approach your work with patience, professionalism and attention to detail. No previous experience is necessary, as full training will be provided. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a commitment to providing excellent patient service.
We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate: A friendly, caring and professional approach to patients and colleagues. Good communication skills, both face‑to‑face and over the telephone. Basic IT skills and the confidence to learn new computer systems. Good organisational skills and attention to detail. The ability to remain calm, polite and professional when working under pressure. A flexible and reliable approach to work. The ability to work independently when required, while also being a supportive member of a team. A willingness to learn and follow practice procedures. Previous reception, administration or healthcare experience is not required. We welcome applications from candidates looking to develop new skills and begin a career in general practice.
The practice operates Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 6:30 pm. Flexibility is essential, as working hours will need to fit within the practice's operational requirements.
This is an opportunity to become part of a friendly and dedicated team, supporting the delivery of primary healthcare to our local community. Full training will be provided, and you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in both reception and medical administration. If you are approachable, reliable, willing to learn and enjoy helping people, we would love to hear from you. Join Minster Medical Group and make a difference to our patients and community.
At Sheppey Healthy Living Centre, we believe that every member of our team is valued and plays an important part in providing a high-quality service to our patients. Regardless of role or level of responsibility, we encourage a supportive, inclusive and respectful working environment where everyone is treated as an equal and has the opportunity to contribute to the success of the practice. We recognise the importance of teamwork, communication and ongoing development. We provide training opportunities, hold regular team meetings and encourage staff to share ideas, learn new skills and support one another. We also value the importance of building positive working relationships outside the workplace, with team dinners, social evenings and other opportunities to get together. We want our staff to feel welcomed, supported and part of the wider team, not simply defined by their individual job role.
Please note that our Sheppey Healthy Living Centre site is currently closed, and staff are therefore working from our Minster Medical Centre site. Current working arrangements are based at Minster Medical Centre until further notice.
