Job summary

University Medical Centre seeks a part-time reception and care navigator to be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. You will book or direct callers to the right clinician, handle e-consultations and repeat prescriptions, and manage scanning and records with EMIS.

The role requires strong communication, empathy, and IT skills. 15 hours weekly across mornings, with flexibility to cover leave and sickness, in a GP practice serving mainly students.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
• Experience with members of the general public.
• Strong IT skills including MS Office (Outlook and Word).

Responsibilities

• First point of contact for patients and visitors, in person and by telephone.
• Receive, assist and direct patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional.
• Process requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, booking callers into the correct slot.
• Process e-consultations, redirecting them to the right clinician.
• Process repeat prescriptions in line with practice guidelines.
• Maintain and monitor the appointments system using EMIS.
• Triage workflow and keep scanning up to date, sending items to the appropriate clinician.
• Update patient clinical records with information passed to reception.
• Carry out Med 3 requests and communicate with patients about them.
• Computer data entry, allocation and collation.
• Open and lock up practice premises, maintaining security.
• Provide administrative and clerical support to clinical and practice staff.
