Job summary

Room to Read is seeking an experienced Talent Programs Manager to design and launch a global portfolio of Talent Programs. The initial focus is on formalizing internship and fellowship programs, with scalable approaches for volunteers, alumni, and other workforce multipliers.

This hands-on role requires taking concepts through implementation, establishing governance, and creating tools and measures for long-term sustainability.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing new programs from concept to launch.
• 7+ years in HR/People program management or related field.
• Experience with internships, fellowships, or workforce development programs.
• Strong project management across multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
• Ability to build scalable governance, documentation, and operating models.
• Proven cross-functional collaboration and influence without direct authority.
• Experience creating participant onboarding and learning resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design and launch of global internship and fellowship programs.
• Translate organizational needs into practical program strategies and plans.
• Establish governance, policies, standards, and operating procedures.
• Define the participant lifecycle from recruitment to program completion.
• Develop scalable frameworks for volunteers, alumni, and other initiatives.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and Talent Acquisition for recruitment approaches.
• Develop dashboards and reports to monitor participation, retention, and outcomes.
• Create documentation and toolkits to support ongoing program ownership.
