Job summary

Cambridge University Press & Assessment is seeking an accomplished Assistant Director, Global Payroll to lead strategy, systems and people across our global payroll function. The role covers 50+ countries, with a shift from traditional payroll to a strategic, data-driven service.

You will partner with People & Culture, Finance and other senior stakeholders, modernising processes, driving automation and governance, and delivering scalable, compliant payroll operations in a hybrid, 2-day-per-week

Qualifications

• Significant global payroll leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK and US payroll legislation.
• Proven ability to build dashboards and insights from payroll data.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a global payroll team.
• Oversee high-volume weekly and monthly payroll cycles.
• Turn payroll data into dashboards and insights for senior leadership.
• Lead payroll audits, tax reconciliations and year-end statutory requirements.
• Act as senior escalation point for complex payroll matters.
• Build relationships with external payroll providers, auditors, HMRC and pension providers.
