Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK (formerly Hanson UK) invites applications for an Assistant Accountant within the Business Service Centre. You will support preparation of management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analysis while ensuring accurate processing of transactions across our international business.

Qualifications

• Currently studying towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively within a team environment.
• Previous experience in a finance, accounting or shared service environment.
• Experience working with ERP systems.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial controls.

Responsibilities

• Posting journals and financial uploads accurately into ERP systems
• Assisting with the preparation and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Supporting monthly management accounting activities
• Contributing to quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes
• Identifying and resolving accounting issues using sound judgement and accounting principles
• Supporting financial controls and compliance within assigned areas
