Job summary

Wernick Power Solutions in Aldridge is seeking a Generator Service Engineer to ensure the operational functionality and safe servicing of generators and related equipment. You will perform inspections, testing, breakdown repairs, installation and commissioning, with a focus on safety, quality, and exceptional customer service.

A strong hands-on mechanical or electrical background with generator engines is essential, along with a full driving licence and willingness to travel.

• C&G, NVQ or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline.
• Clean driving license; travel will be essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections and servicing of generators and related equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns, perform repairs, install and commission tasks.
• Maintain depot/worksite safety and report unsafe practices.
• Keep accurate job records, timesheets, PDIs and damage assessments.
• Provide excellent customer service and build client relationships.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Generator Service Engineer to become a vital part of our team in Aldridge. In this role, you will ensure the seamless operational functionality and pristine presentation of our diverse range of equipment, including generators, diesel tanks, distribution systems, and associated ancillaries. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will expertly conduct routine inspections, comprehensive testing, and meticulous servicing. Your responsibilities will extend to efficiently addressing breakdowns, performing essential repairs, and executing precise installation and commissioning tasks, all while upholding our unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service, stringent safety standards, and superior quality. This role includes participation in a paid on-call rota, ensuring our clients always have the power they need.,

• Champion and adhere to all SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) group standards, fostering a culture of safety.
• Optimise productivity safely and efficiently across your designated workload, ensuring timely service delivery.
• Meticulously manage all job-related administration, including breakdowns, services, pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), damage assessments, and timesheets.
• Deliver exceptional customer service, building strong relationships with our clients.
• Proactively identify and report any unsafe practices within the depot or on customer sites, contributing to a secure working environment.
• Maintain Wernick's high standards by keeping overdue servicing below 6% for the fleet in your area.
• Commit to continuous professional development, ensuring all training and competencies are current.
• Provide flexible support to the Depot and Service Manager, adapting to evolving operational needs.
• Maintain the company vehicle to the highest standards, ensuring it is well-equipped with necessary tools, consumables, and safety gear.

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, offering support and sharing knowledge as required.
• Uphold and enhance depot and engineering operational standards.
  Proven mechanical or electrical expertise directly relevant to power generation equipment.
• Demonstrable competence in performing comprehensive maintenance routines, whether in a field service or depot setting.
• Strong capabilities in fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair, and testing of defined equipment types.
• Crucially, hands-on experience with generator engines is essential; applications without this specific experience will not be considered., A C&G, NVQ, or other recognised professional or vocational qualification in a relevant technical discipline.
• Extensive experience across multiple technical disciplines, such as both mechanical and electrical.
• Practical, hands-on experience in the service, maintenance, installation, and repair of diesel-driven generators., Generally, skills and experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines which are relevant to the scope of equipment types involved in the role
• For servicing and maintenance roles, (whether field service or depot based) skills must be adequate to reliably perform or quickly develop reliable performance of competent maintenance routines.
• For repair role skills must be in depth, sufficient for competent fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair and testing of the defined equipment type.
• Experience in working with generator engines is an essential criteria and applications without the above essentials will not be considered
• Clean and tidy appearance is essential as you will be meeting our customers as is a full driving license as travel will be an essential part of the job., Hold a C and G, NVQ or other recognised professional or vocational qualifications in the relevant technical discipline.
• Have in-depth experience of a multiple technical disciplines, e.g. both mechanical and electrical.
• Hands-on experience of service, maintenance, installation and repair of diesel driven generators.
