We are seeking a skilled and proactive Generator Service Engineer to become a vital part of our team in Aldridge.
In this role, you will ensure the seamless operational functionality and pristine presentation of our diverse range of equipment, including generators, diesel tanks, distribution systems, and associated ancillaries. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will expertly conduct routine inspections, comprehensive testing, and meticulous servicing. Your responsibilities will extend to efficiently addressing breakdowns, performing essential repairs, and executing precise installation and commissioning tasks, all while upholding our unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service, stringent safety standards, and superior quality.
This role includes participation in a paid on-call rota, ensuring our clients always have the power they need.
Key Responsibilities:
Champion and adhere to all SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) group standards, fostering a culture of safety.
Optimise productivity safely and efficiently across your designated workload, ensuring timely service delivery.
Meticulously manage all job-related administration, including breakdowns, services, pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), damage assessments, and timesheets.
Deliver exceptional customer service, building strong relationships with our clients.
Proactively identify and report any unsafe practices within the depot or on customer sites, contributing to a secure working environment.
Maintain Wernick's high standards by keeping overdue servicing below 6% for the fleet in your area.
Commit to continuous professional development, ensuring all training and competencies are current.
Provide flexible support to the Depot and Service Manager, adapting to evolving operational needs.
Maintain the company vehicle to the highest standards, ensuring it is well-equipped with necessary tools, consumables, and safety gear.
Actively pursue self-development through training platforms, online learning, and structured sessions to enhance your expertise.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, offering support and sharing knowledge as required.
Uphold and enhance depot and engineering operational standards.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven mechanical or electrical expertise directly relevant to power generation equipment.
Demonstrable competence in performing comprehensive maintenance routines, whether in a field service or depot setting.
Strong capabilities in fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair, and testing of defined equipment types.
Crucially, hands-on experience with generator engines is essential; applications without this specific experience will not be considered.
Desirable Qualifications & Attributes:
A C&G, NVQ, or other recognised professional or vocational qualification in a relevant technical discipline.
Extensive experience across multiple technical disciplines, such as both mechanical and electrical.
Practical, hands-on experience in the service, maintenance, installation, and repair of diesel-driven generators.
