Job summary

Power Electrics seeks a Workshop Engineer to ensure the reliability and performance of our generator fleet. You will perform routine service, diagnose faults, and carry out on-site repairs as required.

Based in the UK, you will join a team that covers yard operations, delivery and collection, on-call support, and adherence to ISO standards, with opportunities for training and career progression.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC).
  • Apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent proven experience servicing large diesel engines (e.g. Perkins, Cummins).
  • Strong fault-finding skills and effective communication for reporting and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine service and maintenance on generators within the rental fleet.
  • Carry out repairs on customers’ rental generators, on- and off-site as required.
  • Assist with yard tasks, including loading/offloading equipment and operating forklift.
  • Deliver and collect generators and ancillaries using company vehicles and refuel during delivery when needed.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for 24/7 support.
  • Maintain a safe, tidy work environment in line with Health & Safety policy.
  • Adhere to ISO standards (9001, 45001, 14001, 50001) and support continuous improvement.

Job description

Salary: Competitive | Depending on Experience

Job Purpose

As a Workshop Engineer with previous experience of working with diesel engines, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our generator fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generator Maintenance
  • Perform routine service, maintenance and overall upkeep on generators within the rental fleet.
  • Follow manufacturers’ recommended service schedules to ensure optimal performance.
  • Carry out repairs on customers’ rental generators which have broken down, on and off-site as required.
  • Yard Operations
  • Assist with general tasks in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.
  • Operate forklift equipment as needed.
  • Delivery & Collection
  • Deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using company vehicles.
  • Refuel generators as part of the delivery process when required.
  • Provide servicing and repairs for Power Electrics’ equipment on-site, when necessary.
  • On-Call Responsibilities
  • Participate in the company’s on-call rota system to ensure 24/7 support.
  • Maintenance & Housekeeping
  • Assist with basic maintenance tasks, including equipment cleaning, and maintain a safe, tidy work environment in line with the Company Health & Safety Policy.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
  • Adhere to relevant regulations and ISO standards (9001, 45001, 14001, 50001), actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience
  • Technical Qualifications
  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent).
  • Alternatively, completion of an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent proven experience in servicing and repairing large diesel engines (e.g. Perkins, Cummins).
  • Skills
  • Strong fault-finding skills and effective communication abilities
  • Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
