Job summary

Astute People is recruiting a Generator Maintenance Engineer for Midlands sites. The role involves traveling within the UK, performing routine servicing on generators from 10kVA to 2MVA, and handling reactive maintenance. You will be the first responder to breakdowns and participate in a rota of on-call duties.

We require at least 3 years of generator service experience, robust LV power knowledge, and familiarity with ComAp/DSE software. Valid qualifications and a UK work right are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience as a Generator Service Engineer or similar role.
• Strong practical electrical knowledge of LV power generation and distribution systems.
• Experience with software-based control systems such as ComAp and Deep Sea.
• Strong IT skills including Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Gas Safe qualification desirable.
• IEE 18th Edition qualification desirable.
• CSCS card desirable.
• Own basic electrical and mechanical toolkit desirable.
• Right to live and work in the UK.

Responsibilities

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a thriving technical specialist in standby power, uninterruptible power supplies and combined heat and power systems, to recruit a Generator Maintenance Engineer for its Midlands sites.

The strategically important Generator Maintenance Engineer role comes with a salary of £35,000 to £44,000, enhanced pension, company van, company phone, bonus scheme and 25 days' holiday increasing through the company loyalty programme.

Responsibilities and duties of the Generator Maintenance Engineer

Reporting to the maintenance manager you will:

• Travel throughout the UK, primarily within the Midlands area
• Carry out routine servicing on generators ranging from 10kVA to 2MVA.
• Undertake scheduled service work, remedial works and reactive maintenance.
• Act as the first responder to on-site generator breakdowns.
• Participate in an out-of-hours callout rota.
• Use your engineering skills to maintain and service a range of generator systems.
• Work remotely with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of customer service and professionalism.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience as a Generator Service Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong practical electrical engineering knowledge of LV power generation and distribution systems.
• Practical knowledge of software-based control systems such as ComAp and Deep Sea.
• Strong IT skills, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Experience using laptop-based engine system analysis and control programmes such as ComAp PC Suite and DSE Configuration Suite.
• Gas Safe qualification desirable.
• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification desirable.
• IEE 18th Edition qualification desirable.
• CSCS card desirable.
• Own basic electrical and mechanical toolkit desirable.
• Right to live and work in the UK.
