Job summary

Astute People, in partnership with a Midlands-based technical specialist in standby power systems, is seeking a Generator Maintenance Engineer. The role covers servicing generators from 10kVA to 2MVA, with UK travel within the Midlands and beyond.

Salary 35,000–44,000 GBP, plus company van, phone, enhanced pension, health plan, bonus, 25 days' holiday and training opportunities; full-time Monday–Friday 8am–5pm, with out-of-hours rota.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience as Generator Service Engineer or similar role.
• Strong practical knowledge of LV power generation and distribution.
• Experience with ComAp and Deep Sea control software.
• Good IT skills including Outlook, Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Travel throughout the UK, primarily within the Midlands area.
• Carry out routine servicing on generators from 10kVA to 2MVA.
• Undertake scheduled service, remedial and reactive maintenance.
• Act as first responder to on-site generator breakdowns.
• Participate in an out-of-hours callout rota.
• Maintain and service generator systems with high client service standards.
• Work remotely with minimal supervision and strong professionalism.

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a thriving technical specialist in standby power, uninterruptible power supplies and combined heat and power systems, to recruit a Generator Maintenance Engineer for its Midlands sites.

The strategically important Generator Maintenance Engineer role comes with a salary of £35,000 to £44,000, enhanced pension, company van, company phone, bonus scheme and 25 days' holiday increasing through the company loyalty programme.

Responsibilities and duties of the Generator Maintenance Engineer

• Travel throughout the UK, primarily within the Midlands area
• Carry out routine servicing on generators ranging from 10kVA to 2MVA.
• Undertake scheduled service work, remedial works and reactive maintenance.
• Act as the first responder to on-site generator breakdowns.
• Participate in an out-of-hours callout rota.
• Use your engineering skills to maintain and service a range of generator systems.
• Work remotely with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of customer service and professionalism.

Professional qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience as a Generator Service Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong practical electrical engineering knowledge of LV power generation and distribution systems.
• Practical knowledge of software-based control systems such as ComAp and Deep Sea.
• Strong IT skills, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Experience using laptop-based engine system analysis and control programmes such as ComAp PC Suite and DSE Configuration Suite.
• Gas Safe qualification desirable.
• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification desirable.
• IEE 18th Edition qualification desirable.
• CSCS card desirable.
• Own basic electrical and mechanical toolkit desirable.
• Right to live and work in the UK.
