- Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, term-time) Pay: £110 per day Start Date: September 2026 A welcoming school in Prescot, Merseyside, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone looking to develop their career in education.
The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing throughout the school day.
You will play an important role in creating a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment, helping pupils to build confidence and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons and activities
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils where required
- Helping pupils to access and participate in learning activities
- Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and academic development
- Assisting with classroom organisation, preparation of resources and displays
- Encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment
- Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime duties when required
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other school staff
- Providing encouragement and reassurance to pupils and helping them develop confidence and independence

- Have previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
- Be patient, approachable and nurturing
- Be confident working as part of a team and taking direction from teaching staff
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills
- Be proactive, reliable and adaptable
- Be able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Have the right to work in the UK and be available full-time, Monday to Friday
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is desirable but not essential
