Job summary

Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd is seeking a General Teaching Assistant for a long-term supply role at a secondary school in Hightown, Merseyside, starting September 2026. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, term-time, at £110 per day.

You will assist alongside teachers to support learning, help individual pupils and small groups, and promote literacy and numeracy within a safe, inclusive classroom. DBS and safeguarding compliance apply.

Qualifications

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people
  • Be able to establish positive relationships with pupils of different abilities and backgrounds
  • Have a patient and encouraging approach
  • Be confident working with individuals, small groups and larger classroom settings
  • Have good communication and listening skills
  • Be flexible and willing to assist wherever needed across the school
  • Be reliable, punctual and committed to supporting pupils consistently
  • Have the right to work in the UK and be available Monday to Friday
  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (desirable)
  • Have previous secondary school experience (desirable)

About You

The school is looking for someone who is approachable, dependable and genuinely enjoys working with young people.

You will ideally:
