Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools in the Didsbury area, Manchester, with day-to-day supply, short-term cover and long-term placements. You will work with teachers to deliver engaging lessons, provide one-to-one and small group support, and assist pupils including those with SEN, across KS3–KS5 where needed.

A TA qualification, right to work in the UK, and relevant references are required; DBS checks are supported.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in schools, tutoring or youth settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learners.

Responsibilities

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to support a range of secondary schools across the Didsbury area. We have a opportunities available, including day-to-day supply, short-term cover, and long‑term placements in a variety of different schools ranging from independent single‑sex schools to mainstream schools.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for flexible work, to gain experience in different school settings, or secure a longer‑term position.

Responsibilities

• Support students across KS3 and KS4 (and KS5 in some settings)
• Work closely with teachers to deliver engaging and effective lessons
• Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to pupils
• Assist students with varying needs, including SEN (ASD, ADHD, SEMH)
• Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment
• Support students with coursework, revision, and exam preparation

Experience and Skills

• Experience working with young people (school, tutoring, coaching, youth work, etc.)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive and adaptable approach
• A genuine passion for supporting students’ learning and development
• Confidence working across a variety of subjects (core subject strengths desirable)

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Right to work in the UK
• Relevant references covering the last 2 years

Qualifications

• Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent)
• Experience in secondary schools
• SEN experience or training
