Job summary

A locum General Practitioner with an aviation medicine qualification is supplied by Military Medical Personnel to cover an eight-week assignment for the Ministry of Defence at HMS Heron Medical Centre. The work centres on primary healthcare clinics for service personnel and occupational health assessments that flag fitness concerns to the local medical authority.

The post runs to 37 hours a week in a military setting.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Aviation Medicine is required.
• Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults training up to Level 3, with certification.
• GMC registration on the main register and the GP Register without restrictions.
• Listed on the UK NHS Performers List, with an NHS performer number.
• PVG membership (Disclosure Scotland) or Access Northern Ireland certificate.
• Right to work in the UK with no restriction on hours; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Annual appraisal in line with GMC Good Medical Practice.

Responsibilities

• Run primary healthcare clinics for military and entitled personnel.
• Carry out examinations and occupational health assessments within own scope of experience and qualification.
• Inform the local medical authority of any case that may affect a serviceman's ability to do their duties.
• Complete reports and documentation under MoD policy or the requirements of other government departments.
• Attend individual management reviews or case conferences with primary healthcare and/or line management as required.
