Job summary

Military Medical Personnel seeks a Locum Doctor (GP with Aviation Medicine) to cover an MoD assignment at HMS Heron Medical Centre, Ilchester, Somerset. This locum role is 37 hours per week, delivering high-quality care to MoD service personnel and meeting UK registration and aviation medicine requirements.

Pay £72.58 per hour with weekly payments, flexible assignment lengths, free uniforms if needed, and mandatory training provided. Satisfactory compliance and UK work eligibility required.

Qualifications

• Must be GMC registered on the main register and GP Register without restrictions.
• Diploma in Aviation Medicine or completed the RAF MAME Course.
• Current, up-to-date annual appraisal in line with GMP.
• Certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults Level 3.
• UK NHS Performers List registration required with NHS Performer number.

Responsibilities

• Undertake Primary Healthcare clinics for military personnel.
• Conduct OH assessments within scope of experience and qualification.
• Inform local medical authority of cases affecting a service member's duties.
• Complete reports and documentation per MOD policy and government requirements.
• Attend management reviews or case conferences with PHC and/or line management.

Job summary

We are looking for a Locum Doctor (General Practitioner with Aviation Medicine Qualification) to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at HMS Heron Medical Centre, in Ilchester, Somerset.

This is a locum role (37 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Hourly Rate

£72.58 per hour

Main duties of the job

Job Description:

• Undertake Primary Healthcare (PHC) clinics for Military and entitled personnel.
• Examinations and Occupational Health (OH) assessments within the locum doctors scope of experience and qualification.
• To inform the local medical authority of any case that may affect a servicemans ability to undertake their duties.
• To complete reports and documentation in accordance with MOD policy or the requirements of any other government department.
• To attend individual management reviews or case conferences with Primary Healthcare (PHC) and/or line management as required.

Essential requirements

• General Practitioners must be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) both on the main register and on the GMC GP Register without Restrictions.
• Diploma in Aviation Medicine or have completed the RAF Military Aviation Medicine Examiner (MAME) Course.
• Must have a current, satisfactory in date annual appraisal in line with the requirements of the General Medical Councils (GMCs) Good Medical Practice (GMP).
• Must be in date and able to provide certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 3 training.
• Must be on the UK NHS Performers List and provide an NHS Performer number.
