Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking a General Practitioner to join the healthcare team at HMP Leeds in Leeds, Yorkshire. The role covers day and evening clinics with flexible 4‑hour sessions or combinations, part‑time 26.5 hours per week.

You will deliver high‑quality clinical care, undertake assessments, and contribute to improved patient outcomes, while engaging with education and professional development opportunities within a secure environment.

Qualifications

• MBChB or MBBS and GMC registration required.
• Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List.
• Evidence of annual appraisal and CPD participation.
• Experience as a GP in community practice and managing substance misuse.
• Prepared to undertake RCGP Substance Misuse certificates 1 and 2.

Responsibilities

• Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse patient group within a prison setting.
• Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis and inform future management.
• Support and develop the healthcare team and participate in governance activities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Leeds, a category B men’s prison based in Leeds, Yorkshire. HMP Leeds is a remand prison with a fast paced healthcare department that provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Within this role you will be running clinics in the day and evening receptions supporting with the intake of new patients; this will require support with same day medications, acute needs and substance misuse withdraw plans.

Hours

The site currently offers sessions on:

• Tuesday & Friday : 8:00 - 21:00, 13:00 - 21:00 or 17:00 - 21:00
• Saturday: 13:00 - 17:00

We offer flexible working and are happy to discuss either individual 4‑hour sessions or a combination of sessions to suit your needs.

This position is part time working 26.5 hours per week.

Salary

You’ll receive an annual salary from £126,500 per annum or £83,806 pro rata - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

• Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, further developing your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice, or even an A&E environment.
• Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
• Provide highly specialist resources to other members of the healthcare team at site, and involve patients in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Requirements

• MBChB or MBBS
• Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
• Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
• Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
• RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
