Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking a General Practitioner to join our healthcare teams at HMP Five Wells, a category C prison in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. The role focuses on delivering end-to-end care to around 1800 patients with a mix of ages and long-term conditions.

The post is part-time (24 hours/6 sessions per week) with a salary up to £129,500 FTE depending on experience. Induction, career development, and team support are provided.

Qualifications

  • MBChB or MBBS degree is required.
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List is essential.
  • Evidence of annual appraisal and CPD.
  • Experience as a GP in community/general practice.

  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse patient group.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis and timely management decisions.
  • Act as a thorughly skilled resource to the healthcare team at site.

However the site also have a cohort of elderly patients who will need support with long term conditions, because of this the role would suit a GP who enjoys delivering end to end care.

Hours

Mon/ Wed / Fri: 8.30-17:00. This is a part time role working 24 hours /6 sessions per week. We are happy to discuss either individual 4-hr sessions or a combination of sessions.

Salary

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £129,500 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community, as a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t normally experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active
  • Involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Requirements
  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
