Job summary

Hesketh James invites an experienced General Manager to lead a busy gastro pub with rooms in Ambleside. You will drive daily operations, guest satisfaction and the commercial success of the business, working with an Operations Manager to motivate a talented team.

Salary up to £50,000 DOE, plus a performance bonus, TRONC, staff discounts and fully furnished live-in accommodation with bills included. This lakeside location offers a vibrant lifestyle and seasonal demand.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' experience as General Manager of a fast-paced, high-volume gastro/food pub or restaurant, branded or independent.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and inspire teams to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
• Hands-on yet strategic with the ability to focus on the bigger picture.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, labour costs and P&L accounts.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills under pressure.
• Experience recruiting, training and developing teams in a location with seasonal variations.
• A valid Personal Licence.

Responsibilities

• Own the financial performance of the business including planning, budgeting, labour management and P&L oversight.
• Lead a busy operation delivering high standards of food, drink and service.
• Coach and develop a capable team in a seasonal environment.
• Ensure guest experiences are consistently outstanding across peak periods.
• Review procedures and manage expenditure and operational processes.
• Set an example with calm, professional leadership in a fast-paced setting.
• Recruit and build a strong team suited to a Lake District location.
