Qualifications

Job Description:

We are expanding our Property Safety team with a new opportunity for a qualified and experienced Gas Service Engineer. You will carry out annual servicing, maintenance, repairs, and breakdowns on all gas appliances/systems, associated equipment, and controls within Gentoo's housing stock across Sunderland.

Our customers are at the heart of Gentoo; therefore, providing excellent customer service is essential. We seek a qualified Gas Service Engineer with knowledge of Gas Regulations, Health & Safety Regulations, Codes of Practice, and experience in domestic Gas Engineering procedures. Effective communication with customers and colleagues is crucial to ensure excellent service.

Enjoy reduced working hours during summer with early finishes at 1 pm or 3 pm, and until 4.30 pm in winter, Monday to Friday. Saturday work is required, with a following Friday off.

Training and development opportunities are available, including products, renewable energy, air source heat pumps, and qualification renewal, supporting your professional growth.

The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo. A full UK driver's license is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Delivering high-quality servicing and repairs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and policies.
  2. Adhering to safe working practices daily.
  3. Completing work to high standards, aiming for first-time fixes, and ensuring excellent customer experience.
  4. Maintaining accurate paperwork reflecting your work.
  5. Providing excellent customer service, embodying our core values.
  6. Supporting the Emergency Out-of-Hours Service and working Saturdays when required.
What we are looking for:
  1. A full UK driver's license.
  2. City & Guilds Advanced Craft certificate in Gas Engineering/Plumbing or Heating, or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
  3. Current gas competency qualification (ACS accreditation): CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1.
  4. Experience in servicing, repairs, and installation of domestic gas appliances.
  5. Knowledge of Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations.
Desirable:
  1. Certifications such as G3 unvented hot water, solar thermal, and non-domestic gas are highly desirable.
