Job summary
Hillier Nurseries Limited is seeking a friendly Garden Centre Assistant for Hillier Garden Centre in Newbury. The role covers the whole centre, delivering excellent service, plant advice and ensuring a tidy, well-stocked environment that’s ready for trade.
You’ll work across a rota, including some weekends, with 22.5 hours per week on permanent basis. On-site parking and a range of staff benefits are available. Training will be provided to support your development.
Qualifications
- Positive, friendly and helpful attitude.
- Interest in plants/gardening or garden centre environment.
- Willingness to adapt and work with energy and pace.
- Full training provided.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with queries.
- Offer advice on plants and gardening products.
- Care for plants: watering, pruning, pest checks.
- Replenish, price, rotate and display stock to standard.
- Process payments and handle cash/card transactions.
- Support stock control, deliveries and wastage management.
- Promote Hillier Gardening Club to customers.
- Keep centre clean, tidy, safe and welcoming.
- Report health and safety hazards.
- Support restaurant/café when required.
