Job summary

Citi in London is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to help shape the FX technology platform. You will implement cross-border payments and custody solutions using cloud-native technologies, contribute to system architecture, and collaborate with traders, quants, sales and product teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or above in a STEM discipline.
• Proven software engineering experience with strong systems knowledge.
• Hands-on Java and Spring development experience; ultra-low-latency practices preferred.
• Experience in FX domain is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools and production-grade applications.
• Strong SQL and messaging knowledge (Kafka, Solace, MQ).
• Experience with caching, Cloud-native apps, and distributed systems.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.
• Awareness of industry trends and new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Shape the team of technologists toward next-level FX solutions.
• Hands-on implementation of cross-border FX payments and custody workflows.
• Drive system architecture design and collaborate with end-users and product teams.
• Ensure adherence to Citi policies and maintain thorough documentation.
• Work with FX Technology teams to deliver business-beneficial solutions.
• Design, develop, and test new features; continually improve SDLC and product quality.
• Provide 3rd line support for production systems and mentor juniors.
• Contribute to best practices and consistency across teams.
