Job summary

Citi London is hiring a Senior FX Cross Border Payments and AI Engineer to drive next-generation solutions for cross-border payments and custody. You will work hands-on with Java/Spring in a cloud-native environment, focusing on automation, scalability, and modern architectures.

The role requires strong Java skills, experience in low-latency development, and a solid foundation in AI tooling. A Master’s in a STEM field is preferred, with collaboration across FX, sales, and product teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in STEM discipline.
• Proven software engineering experience with Java and Spring.
• Understanding of ultra-low-latency development practices.
• Experience in FX or financial tech is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools (e.g., Devin, Claude code, Codex).
• Strong SQL/database skills.
• Experience with messaging systems (Kafka).
• Knowledge of caching technologies and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and shape next-level FX cross-border payments and custody solutions.
• Hands-on implementation using cloud-native tech and CI/CD.
• Design system architecture and collaborate with stakeholders across teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices and processes.
• Provide 3rd line production support and ensure robust operations.
