Job summary

CTRG is recruiting for a Funeral Care Centre Assistant in Cambridge (CB1 1HX). The role runs Monday to Friday, 08:30–11:30, at £12.71 per hour. You will support front-line colleagues, prepare coffins and vehicles, handle floral tributes and ensure safety standards are upheld.

The position requires a full UK driving license, strong communication, teamwork and empathy to help clients say their best goodbye in sensitive moments.

Qualifications

• Full UK Manual Driving License is required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Team player with ability to build professional relationships.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Willingness to learn new skills and face challenges.
• Ability to carry out heavy lifting and manual handling.
• Must act with discretion and show empathy.
• Ability to stay calm and compassionate in emotional circumstances.

Responsibilities

• Clean Funeralcare vehicles daily, including polish and wax routine.
• Move ceremonial vehicles within the Care Centre grounds (no public road driving).
• Assist with general housekeeping in public and private areas; report maintenance needs.
• Fully prepare coffins for services.
• Handle floral tributes with care.
• Report to Care Logistics Management and follow instructions.
• Comply with health and safety requirements and checks.
• Promote teamwork and maintain a professional, dignified manner.
