Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Maths Tutor to provide flexible 1:1 tuition in Halton. The role focuses on learners who may have gaps in education, delivering practical and engaging numeracy support.

Ideal candidates will have experience in teaching or tutoring Maths, strong numeracy knowledge, and ability to adapt sessions. DBS check or willingness to obtain, and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths or similar.
• Strong maths and numeracy knowledge.
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience.
• Experience supporting young people.
• Patient and adaptable approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Two professional child-related references.

Location: Halton

Hours: 5-15 hours per week

Start Date: September 2026

Duration: Ongoing

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Functional Skills Maths Tutor to deliver flexible 1:1 support to a learner in Halton.

This role would suit a tutor who is confident working with learners who may have gaps in their education and can make numeracy skills practical, accessible and engaging.
