Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated Functional Skills Maths Tutor to deliver flexible 1:1 support to a learner in Halton. The role offers 5–15 hours per week with an ongoing start from September 2026.

You will tailor lessons to bridge gaps in education, making numeracy practical, accessible and engaging for the learner. Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths or similar, strong maths knowledge, and a patient, adaptable approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths or similar.
• Strong Maths and numeracy knowledge.
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience.
• Experience supporting young people.
• Patient and adaptable approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Two professional child-related references.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 Functional Skills Maths tuition.
• Identify areas for development.
• Plan lessons around individual targets.
• Break down mathematical concepts clearly.
• Adapt sessions to maintain engagement.
