Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Verification Assurance Officer (Southern) based in Totnes. The role focuses on frontline fraud prevention, conducting evidence and verification interviews, and collaborating with Jobcentre colleagues to identify and tackle fraud from the outset.

As a VAO you will strengthen fraud controls, educate customers on responsibilities, and contribute to the Fraud, Error and Debt strategy. The role requires on-site work with travel between sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interviewing skills.
• Ability to identify and tackle fraud at first contact.
• Experience coordinating with Jobcentre colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and follow-up evidence interviews to verify information.
• Assess documents for verification of ID, housing costs, childcare, and related elements.
• Lead briefings on fraud trends and share findings with risk teams.
• Educate customers on responsibilities and consequences of non-compliance.
• Travel between sites may be required for business needs.
