Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking a proactive Environmental Services operative to join our frontline team in Sheffield. You will undertake property clearances, respond to environmental incidents, clean and disinfect contaminated areas, and manage vegetation in public, domestic and commercial settings.

The role requires physical fitness, outdoor work in all weather, and the ability to work as part of a team or independently.

Qualifications

• Works well in a team and also independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to prioritise workloads.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physically fit to lift and move bulky items safely.
• Willing to occasionally work weekends to meet service demands.
• Holds a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Internal and external property clearances.
• Respond to environmental incidents (fly-tipping, waste, animal carcasses, sharps, hazardous materials).
• Clean, cleanse and disinfect contaminated premises and articles.
• Vegetation reduction/removal in various settings.
• Record information and complete work records using mobile tech.
• Drive Council vehicles and perform daily vehicle checks.
