Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking an Environmental Services Officer for the Street Scene & Regulations Services. The role involves field-based pest control work, providing technical advice to the Council and private sector, and flexible hours with van and PPE provided.

We offer CPD training, opportunities for flexible working, 25 days annual leave (30 after 5 years), and a generous pension. Applicants should have RS Public Health Level 2 (BPCA Level 2) and a full driving licence.

Qualifications

Good communication skills both written and oral.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Ability to manage and prioritise workloads, work to deadlines and achieve service targets.
Ability to interpret legislation and statutory guidance.
Ability to analyse and interpret data and information.
Able to develop funding and contracts.
Understanding of equality issues.

Responsibilities

To provide a focus of knowledge, technical expertise, and advice for the Council and private sector with specific reference to pest control.
To undertake clearance/disinfection of noxious, verminous, or contaminated articles and premises including faeces and sharps
Prepared to work flexibly including outside normal working hours.
Willingness to work in unpleasant & noxious conditions.
Able to move, lift & carry bulky & heavy items.
