Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking an Environmental Services Assistant to help maintain clean, safe and healthy environments across Sheffield. You will work with council services, external agencies and communities to deliver a wide range of environmental services that improve residents' quality of life.

You will handle property clearances, respond to environmental incidents, clean and disinfect affected areas, manage vegetation in public spaces, record your work on mobile devices and drive

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with good workload prioritisation.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather.
• Physically fit and able to lift and carry items safely.
• Willing to work weekends occasionally.
• Holds a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Internal and external property clearances.
• Responding to environmental incidents including fly-tipping, illegally dumped waste, animal carcasses and other hazardous materials.
• Cleaning, cleansing and disinfection of contaminated premises and items.
• Vegetation reduction and removal in public, domestic and commercial settings.
• Recording information and completing work records using mobile technology.
• Driving Council vehicles and undertaking daily vehicle safety checks.
• 37 Hours per Week | Full Time
