Job summary

North Yorkshire County Council is recruiting a Regulatory Support Officer to join Regulatory Services, covering Environmental Health and some Trading Standards functions. The role is based across Northallerton, Harrogate, Selby, Richmond and surrounding areas.

You will act as the frontline contact, providing customer-focused support and coordinating technical, operational and administrative tasks in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and delivering a customer-focused service.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and databases.
• High level of organisation, accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to prioritise workload independently.
• Experience of financial management to process orders and invoices.
• Knowledge of data protection and maintaining confidentiality when handling personal information.
• Knowledge of Regulatory Services is desirable but not essential; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Act as the initial point of contact for customers, fielding and dealing with enquiries and complaints.
• Provide specialist technical, operational and administrative support to the service in a busy, varied environment.
• Undertake occasional operational/field work, e.g. managing low-level cases, installing/removing noise equipment, collecting pool samples and diffusion tubes.
