Boeing Defence United Kingdom Limited is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to work in the Field alongside the aircraft and join the on-site C-17 Field Operations Engineering and Technical Support (FETS) team at RAF Brize Norton.

The role focuses on mechanical, structural and hydro‑mechanical system support, troubleshooting and resolving in‑service issues, and providing hands‑on mentoring to RAF maintainers while supporting airworthiness and mission readiness.

Qualifikationen

• Engineering degree in mechanical/structural/aerospace or equivalent
• Eligible for UK SC security clearance
• Experience troubleshooting structural and integrated mechanical/hydro‑mechanical aircraft systems in operational environments using technical orders and schematics
• Proven background in airframe structures and fluid/hydraulic systems
• Familiarity with aircraft support equipment and maintenance tooling
• Ability to work under time pressure in a 24/7 environment; on-call may be required

Aufgaben

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, structural and hydro‑mechanical system problems on C‑17 aircraft in an operational environment
• Provide clear, practical repair guidance and technical recommendations to RAF maintainers and leadership
• Interpret and apply technical documentation to ensure correct maintenance and repair actions
• Deliver on‑the‑job training and demonstrations explaining system theory and troubleshooting techniques
• Support airworthiness and mission readiness by identifying corrective actions and coordinating spares
• Prepare and submit technical reports and documentation to drive improvements
• Collaborate with Boeing engineering, supply and customer teams and support other C‑17 operators
• Travel to other locations to support maintenance and operational tasks
