Job summary

Confidential in Cambridge, UK is hiring a Front of House Porter on an 18-month fixed-term, full-time contract. You will be the welcoming face of the building, providing a professional reception and handling front desk queries for staff, visitors and contractors.

Key duties include reception and customer service, mail and parcel logistics, building security and lock-up, safety monitoring of fire panels, and general facilities support around the site.

Qualifications

• Previous portering/reception/security/front-of-house experience.
• Strong communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
• High attention to detail regarding site safety and security protocols.
• Ability to work independently and manage shift responsibilities (fire panel monitoring training).

Responsibilities

• Reception & customer service: welcome staff, visitors and contractors, handle front desk queries.
• Mail & parcel logistics: receive, sort and distribute post and courier deliveries.
• Building security & lock-up: open, secure and lock the building at designated times.
• Safety monitoring: observe fire alarm panels, conduct routine safety checks, assist with emergencies.
• General facilities support: keep reception area tidy and assist with light site tasks.
