Job summary

Ardagh Glass Ltd. is seeking a Shift Technician for the Front End on the Green Shift, based in Rugby. The role is a 4 on/4 off night pattern (2 nights, 7pm–7am) with 14 days off every 5 shifts and six rota days per year.

Includes a shift allowance and annual bonus contingent on KPIs. The candidate will operate and maintain can manufacturing equipment, ensure KPI targets, and maintain quality standards while adhering to safety and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English.
• Recognised Time Served Apprenticeship.
• ONC / HNC Qualification or equivalent.
• English written and verbal.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Apprenticeship in Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering discipline.
• Working knowledge of Health and Safety work practises.
• Experience of preventative and planned maintenance on production equipment.
• Experience of working on production machinery.
• Experience of repairing spare parts for production machinery.
• Ability to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.
• Attention to detail and quality checks.
• Team player with problem solving and initiative.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
• Ability to complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
• Knowledge of quality and hygiene systems advantageous.
• Proactive and goal-oriented approach.
• Attend training courses to maintain technical knowledge.
• Flexibility to travel to other locations.

Responsibilities

• To safely run and maintain manufacturing equipment to meet KPI requirements.
• Report non-conformities and take corrective actions.
• Carry out maintenance, repairs, and setup checks as directed by Engineering.
• Operate can manufacturing equipment to achieve plant targets.
• Maintain housekeeping and safe working practices.
• Collaborate with management and colleagues to improve processes.
• Promote quality improvement and preventative actions.
• Support other areas on ad-hoc shift or day basis.
