You will lead the operations team, improve processes and ensure shipments are handled efficiently and cost‑effectively while maintaining strong customer and partner relationships.

You will coordinate import/export shipments, monitor KPIs, and support business growth through effective leadership and continuous improvement of systems and practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in a management role within UK freight forwarding.
• Strong understanding of freight operations, including import/export procedures.
• Experience managing and developing an operations team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the freight forwarding department in Manchester.
• Manage and develop the operations team, providing guidance and performance management.
• Coordinate import/export shipments across freight modes with accurate documentation.
• Monitor performance, service levels and productivity, identifying improvement opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with customers, carriers and overseas partners.
• Handle escalations and resolve shipment issues and complaints.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal procedures.
• Support sales and commercial teams to implement new business and maintain service.
